Whether you’re out camping with the kids or backpacking down the Appalachian Trail, you’re going to want a tool that can keep up with the demands. The Revere from 1558 Knife Co may very well be that tool.
The Revere is another winner from ABS Master Blade Smith Josh Fisher. Made from 52100, the Revere comes in at 8.4” overall, with 4” of of cutting edge, it has a recurve blade that just slices through any and everything. The blade stock is pretty thick, so if you need to use it to baton some wood you’ll have no problems doing so, and then you can take your ferro rod and make a fire on part of the spine. It does feature a swedge on the blade but closer to the micarta handles, there is enough space to get some good purchase on a ferro rod.

I’ve spent the last few weeks carrying this knife every day. I’ve used it to cut through rope, wire, tape, packages, I’ve sharpened pencils with it, you name it, I’ve probably tried it. It’s a beast for every day tasks. It’s definitely noticeable in your EDC but as a primary blade you can draw it quickly from the sheath and get to work cutting or slicing whatever you need to.
The Revere comes in a custom leather sheath with a loop for your belt. The sheath is made by Bobs Custom Saddle Shop in Texas, which is where 1558 Knife Co also happens to be from.

Now if you’re unaware of 1558 Knife company, I highly suggest checking them out. The Revere is a solid option for the outdoorsy type person but it can also be a great edc option if you don’t mind the belt carry. I really have nothing bad to say about the Revere. It’s comfortable in the hands, I can get a good 4 finger grip on it and I wear a large size glove. The length of it would make it better for a knife to bring on a hike or camping, or to throw into your pack for a backpacking trip. It does have some heft to it but it makes up for that when it comes to cutting task.
The Revere is highly recommended if you’re someone who’s into the bigger fixed blades and wants a no bullshit, can do it all type of knife. If you’re looking for something similar but in a smaller package, you could always check out the Neches Hunter, which I reviewed a little while back and you can find it it here
