Tuff Possum Pocket Possibles Pouch

By Nick Italiano

Tuff Possum Gear is known for making high-quality nylon goods, specifically bags and pouches, geared towards outdoors people who need highly functional and reliable ways to store and organize their tools and equipment. Each piece is designed in-house by Jayberry, owner of Tuff Possum, and built in the USA. Jayberry has a wealth of experience as a lifelong outdoorsman and uses that experience to build products that are rugged, reliable, and simply work very well for their intended purpose.

Tuff Possum Gear has become a staple in both my EDC and my outdoor kits, and for good reason, Tuff Possum Gear makes some of the best nylon gear in the business. The Shackleton EDC Satchel has been an excellent companion for moving some of my larger EDC and outdoor gear. You can read all about that here. I’ve also relied upon the PSK pouch, with its bright waterproof material, to keep my survival essentials dry and easy to find. Today, we are looking at one of Tuff Possum’s smaller pouches, the Pocket Possibles Pouch. This pocket-sized pouch is one of Tuff Possum’s best-selling products, and I can see why!

Specs

The Pocket Possibles Pouch is fairly compact coming in at just 5 inches long and 3.5 inches wide. The US made YKK zipper runs across the middle of the pouch, this reminds me of the coin purses that my grandmother had when I was a child. This is an excellent design feature as it helps prevent items from spilling out of the pouch when opened. YKK makes some of the best zippers in the business, and I always appreciate when makers use them as I know the zipper is going to last a very long time.

The Pocket Possibles Pouch has two rubberized tabs at either end that make for very durable attachment points should you want to mount it to a pack, throw a carabiner on there, or any number of items. The pouch is made from a durable Tweave Durastretch Nylon. It has a bit of stretch to it, allowing you to really stuff it. The total weight of the pouch is less than one ounce, so you’ll never have to worry about it weighing you down. The Pocket Possibles comes in a variety of colors, so you can easily match your aesthetic or color code your pouches for certain gear. Like all Tuff Possum gear, the build quality and stitching are excellent, and I have no doubt it will stand the test of time.

In Use

So, first and foremost, I would like to highlight the versatility of the Pocket Possibles Pouch. Yes, it’s a great compact pouch to throw in your pocket and carry on a daily basis. It is also a great pouch to throw in your bag or even attach to your pack for easily accessible additional storage. The photo above came from a buddy of mine, pm_outNabout, who used D ring clips to attach two Pocket Possibles to his pack straps.

For me, I have this one set up as a Mini Survival Kit for EDC carry. I was able to fit a pretty comprehensive small kit in there as well as a few useful edc tools, like a small Leatherman, a flashlight, a space pen, folding razor saw, some lock bypass tools, and an emergency whistle. The nylon material slides easily in and out of your pocket, and I was able to fashion a grab handle using the rubberized tabs and a Modl Infinity tool.

I experimented with a few different set ups including a boo-boo kit, a general pocket catch-all for coins and keys, a micro tool kit, and a small electronics pouch. It suited all these tasks very well, and I have the distinct feeling I will end up with a few more of these for different kits.

Final Thoughts

I can see why the Pocket Possibles Pouch of Tuff Possum’s best sellers, it’s small, versatile, well built, and reasonably priced! At the time of writing, these cost around 20 USD with some variation based on color choices, and it is definitely worth every penny. I place a lot of value on how I carry my gear, and the true testament of value comes from my willingness to carry something on a daily basis. I have had my Pocket Possibles Pouch every single day since I’ve gotten it and it really helped to evolve my EDC carry system. I definitely would recommend you check this one out if you are in the market for a pocketable EDC pouch or just need some small pouches to organize your gear.
