KeyBar: Organization for your keys and so much more.

By Phil Spano

If you’re anything like me you attatch your keys to a belt loop with some sort of d-ring and as you walk around those keys dangle and they make so much damn noise that it’s hard to sneak up on anyone. That’s where Keybar comes in.

KeyBar makes the perfect tool to keep your keys organized and quiet. With a patented USA made key organizer and titanium clip that functions like a Swiss Army Knife for your keys or you can select customized tool inserts such as a utility blade or tweezers and use it as a handy EDC tool.

KeyBar organizers are made in the United States down south in Georgia. They use quality materials like titanium, micarta, aluminum, and carbon fiber to produce a useful tool for anyone’s preference.

With every KeyBar purchase, you get those to quality materials, 3 sets of stainless steel screws so you’re able to hold more inside of it. You also get stainless steel spacers to put between your keys or tools so that every thing functions correctly while inside and o-rings to keep everything snug. You also get a titanium key ring to attach to your carabiner or a titanium pocket clip in an assortment of different colors and if you choose to go with tools, you get the KeyBar Lock which uses torsion bars to keep them locked open when needed and closed when you don’t.

Now KeyBar has been around for a very long time. I remember back in my Overlanding days they were all the rage so that while you’re out on the trail your keys wouldn’t be dangling out of your ignition and smacking on your dashboard making all kinds of noises.

These things are so simple but so functional. I own 2 of them, a full size and a KeyBar Jr. I have the Jr on my work keys to keep everything organized like the shop keys, my house key, a lock out tag out key, and a padlock key.

The Jr is obviously a smaller build but can still hold up to 2-4 keys or different tools. They’re made of the same materials as the full size KeyBar just in a small package. So if you’re a minimalist that just needs to carry the essentials on your key ring, then the KeyBar Jr may be your go to option.

I also have a full size KeyBar. This one is about 3 or 4 years old now. I used to carry my keys in it but since getting a work van and having a separate set of keys specifically for work, I don’t really have many keys to carry outside of work. So I turned my full size into a Key-SAK, or a Sak-Bar, basically a fully customized multi tool.

This one is made with clip side being aluminum and the other side is micarta. I have this one filled with nothing but tools. I took out the included key ring and just use the pocket clip, which I must say isn’t my favorite feature. The clip sits on the outside of the KeyBar but it’s held on like the tools are. So when tightened down it doesn’t sit completely flush with the bar and it also isn’t a deep carry clip. KeyBar does offer a deep carry option but those have to be purchased separately unless you get a certain edition KeyBar that comes with it.

The other tools I have are a utility knife, a can opener, a tooth pick, tweezer, a flathead screwdriver, and a Philips screwdriver. All of these tools sit comfortably inside the KeyBar. With these tools that I was able to pick myself, turned my KeyBar into a very handy multi-tool that only has the tools I actually need without the extra useless things in there just to take up space. The screw drivers are great, they’re very sturdy and functional just as any screw driver would be, the pick and tweezers are also very solid and easy to use and the tweezers actually work. The can opener, it’s a can opener, it’s fine and works just like any can opener would. The utility knife is great for what it is but it is a small blade, and I wouldn’t use it for any big tasks, but for opening packages and cutting tape and paper, it works just fine.

Those are just a small group of what KeyBar makes for their tool inserts and they’re always tinkering and looking to make something else. You can get a solid knife blade made from magnacut, bottle opener, pens, hook, pry tool, and so much more. They are all fully customizable in every way, just select your KeyBar and what tools you want, you’ll probably need longer screws, and bam, you have your own full custom multitool.

They do make more than just tools and KeyBars, though. They have made magnets that will allow you with the use of magnets to be able to remove your KeyBar from your car key without having to remove the key from the car. They make carabiner clips, pen holders, beads, and stickers, and of course, you can get some KeyBar swag right from their website.

KeyBar is always looking for new products to design and make, always testing out new ways to make them, and they do pretty much everything in-house. KeyBar is a family business, and if you follow them on socials you’ll see what I mean. Don’t take my word for it. Go check out KeyBar for yourself and start organizing your life.
